Discovering chromatography

Chemistry

30 minutes

Chromatography is one way that individual substances in a mixture can be separated. It’s a process often used in labs, like at GSK, to check that medicines contain the right ingredients. Discover the process for yourself with this simple experiment.

As part of our STEM at home series, we have created some fun, hands-on experiments you can complete at home or in school, giving you a chance to be a lab scientist for the day. As well as including step-by-step instructions and easy to follow diagrams, all can be completed in under 30 minutes with little equipment.

Parental or teacher supervision is advised.
